Fall Semester, 2000
Student comments:
"Jett is a wonderful teacher who I admire greatly. His writing style and teaching style are fabulous."
"I think Jett knows what he's talking about very well. It's just hard for him to stay on the topic all the time. Coming from Remy's theory class, I felt very unprepared for the things I should already know, however Jett has taken the time to help me understand everything I need to know."
"Jett Hitt is one of the few teachers I've met here who cares more about his student and their well being than how he looks to his fellow professors. He's one of those rare teachers who manages to maintain the teacher/student relationship (i.e. authority, respect,) while still being a "real" person. He doesn't have to put up a false front. His actions and comments to the class are always appropriate."
"I do enjoy this class (as much as anyone enjoys theory) and I am learning a lot. I know he feels that our projects are the best way to help us put into practice the things we're learning about, but two big projects in one semester seems like a lot. I know that I am majoring in music but I do have other classes besides music that I have to do work for. I think that if he started the semester right off preparing for the projects instead of waiting 3 0r 4 weeks before they're due to talk about them, there wouldn't be as much stress."
"Jett is one of the most impressive and helpful college instructors I have ever had the privilege of learning from. Jett is always available outside of class to help facilitate my understanding of course material. He also meets one on one with all of his students at least 4 times throughout the semester to stimulate development of cohesive musical ideas and compositions. This instructor is simply amazing."
