Aural Skills IV 214

Spring 2001

Pretty unclear about assignments

His methods are basic. I understand, but he is not very approachable.

Jett is always willing to help students outside of class during his free time. I have never seen a teacher put forth such an effort for all of his students. Thanks for everything JETT!

Enthusiastic! Works hard to ensure the success of each student as part of the class & as an individual. Excellent teacher!

Jett makes the class very comfortable and laid back. It's obvious that he is concerned about his students. The students really appreciate that.

Jett is a wonderful teacher. He makes me think about music in a new light. And we have similar hair styles. And one more thing Cleveland Rocks.

I think Jett is a very fair & objective teacher, he helps us so we are prepared in our undergraduate degrees. He is a much more effective teacher than Jeanine Remy.

Jett is really great on a one on one basis. His teaching in class is often random and unorganized. Even though he goes on tangents, he knows his stuff.

The class needs a little bit more structure. An organization to what we're learning is necessary. Sometimes it just feels random. I wish that he would lecture on the different chapters, explaining the subject matter before he gives the assignment. By doing this we would have a better handle on each concept. Sometimes when he walks into class he acts like he doesn't know what he is going to teach and that is frustrating as a student. I feel like in Aural Skills IV we need to be challenged in our sight reading and dictation more than we are, because we usually don't do this in class.

Cares for each individual student and wants them to succeed.

I feel that there has been a great deal of improvement in this class this semester. The attitude of the instructor (and the students) has been so much better. There hasn't been near the amount of stress that all of us felt last semester.

Mr. Hitt has yet to find that balance between addressing individual concerns and addressing the needs of the class as a whole. Too often the progress of other members of the class is stymied while Mr. Hitt allows one student to take up valuable class time with questions that have already been answered or comments that bear little relevance to the subject at hand. However, it would be a shame to see Mr. Hitt lose entirely his concern for each student as an individual. His concern for and involvement with his students is admirable and rare, and needs only to be tempered, not eliminated.
